Weekend Delights

Friday, April 30, 2010

The weather is still unpredictable here, one minute the sun is shining and then the next it rains and hails. Got caught in a little hail storm this week while out on a walk/run. It was exilarating though. Didn't know I would enjoy being caught out in the aggressive ramblings of nature that much, but all this exersize I've been doing has increased my energy level and improved my mental state as well. I hope you have the time to do something fun and exilarating for yourself this weekend. Time to engage one of the senses that you might not have engaged in awhile. While you're here I thought I might share a few of my favorites from the week to get you started.

{I love the sight of...}

{I love the feel of...}

I love the smell of..., sound of..., taste of...  I hope you get a chance to fill in the blank with a few of your own this weekend.

The Patio Gardener

Thursday, April 29, 2010

It's that time of year now where I always say I better start doing some planting before it's too late.
We live in a townhome and have a teansy tiny backyard, but gardening in pots is my kind of gardening anyway.  I'm hoping to plant some more veggies and herbs this year in my pots so I can just go to the back yard to gather my salad instead of the market.  There are so many colorful and pretty products for gardening these days, especially since the trend is organic and grow your own.  The Balcony Gardener has some very pretty graphic seed packets and these new eco watering can bottle adaptors.

I'm hoping to get some simple and easy direction from The Girls Guide to Growing Your Own and A Slice of Organic Life.  I'm not a very seasoned gardener, so the more instruction I have and the simpler it is the better.  I'd like to be successful at it this year.  I've had a few trials in past years with tomotoes.  The best thing is, I know organic tastes alot better when I buy it at the market and will taste even better coming from my own backyard right?
Any advice you'd like to offer me in the area of gardening would definately be welcomed.

Party Decor - Modern Vellum Mobiles

Tuesday, April 27, 2010

Spotted these colorful vellum mobiles on Oh Happy Day.  See Project Wedding where Jordan gives step-by-step instructions.  The awesome thing is, this can all be made for under $25.00.  Now that's my kind of decorating.

Celebrating One Year of Blogging!

Monday, April 26, 2010

I missed my blogging anniversary on April 22nd of last week.  I can't believe it's been a whole year of blogging already and I'm still here.   Thank you for taking delight with me in this creative world that brings us beauty and joy daily.  We are all created to create, as we have been created in the image of the creator himself.  You have all brought me delight in sharing yourselves and your blogs with me too.  I brought balloons to the celebration today and I'd love for you to join me in decorating for the party, because a party is celebrated best with good friends.  Please share with me, what favorite party decoration would you bring?

A few good things for Earth Day!

My plan is to work on my schedule since it has changed a bit and I've seemed to have lost some of my time for blogging and visiting you my friends.  My weekend will be as busy as ever with lots of things to do and people to see.  My wish is for a wonderful weekend for each and everyone of you.

Rockstar Duchess Nursery

Wednesday, April 21, 2010

I haven't shown any baby rooms around here yet, but I couldn't pass this one up. I love the look of this bold and beautiful nursery done by Sharon Taylor. Sharon is awesome at taking thrift store finds and glaming them up for this Rockstar nursery.

On a little side note.  Still working on the blog template.  When the new template was brought over, my blog roll dissappeared, so I'm working on setting that up again and still readjusting the layout of the sidebar menu.  Thank you so much for all your sweet comments about the new blog design.

Updating the Final Details

Monday, April 19, 2010

Good Evening!  Did you have a wonderful weekend?  The sun is starting to shine around here and I've been soaking it up.  You might have noticed that things look a little different around here.  Just updating the final details on my new blog template and layout.  Thank you for your patience while I fix things up a little bit around here.  Ellie just downloaded the template today and I'm working on adjusting the details.

Porcelain Berry Cartons

Thursday, April 15, 2010

I'm a berry eater all summer long.  Rasberries are my favorite.  I love mixing raspberries, blueberries and blackberries and putting them on top of ice cream.  During the summer I love picking blackberries right off the bush during walks by river near my home.  These porcelain baskets I saw on Oh Joy! this morning would make cute keeping places for all those sweet juicy berries.

New Things

Tuesday, April 13, 2010

Still working on the new blog layout with Ellie, but I just couldn't wait to show you my new banner.  The artwork was created by Dee from Our Little Love Nest.  Do you like it?  I think Dee might need a little break from me after this.  After a few late night phone calls and many, many e-mails and many requests like...can you make the balloons brighter, can you change the chair, now can you change it back, can you make the bird gray, no I think I liked it how you had it the first time, can you change the font, can you change this and change that, and now change it all back again.  Thank you Dee, you are a wonderful artist and a very kind and patient business woman too.  I really like it, it suits me, it suits my blog, it suits my future business endeavors.  More to come...

Friday!

I'm off to run a couple of errands this morning. I'll be celebrating life this weekend and remembering this Sunday on Yom Hashoah - Holocaust Remembrance Day. Have a wonderful weekend.

I delight in...

Wednesday, April 7, 2010

Last night was one of those nights when I got all caught up in my mind with thoughts of, nobody called, nobody cares, and I hate to go to that place because it can really take me downhill fast with thoughts reeling of negativity.  So this morning I woke up and decided I need to think about what delights me today.  Things like...my husband waking me up every morning with a kiss before he goes to work and telling me that I'm beautiful and that he loves me, listening to the dogs snore on the sofa next to me while I type away on my computer, hearing my son come downstairs at 12:00 midnight and banging around the kitchen because he needs a snack, and having the comforting feeling that at least I know where he is, safe and at home, warming up my chai tea latte in the microwave and sipping this warm, spicy, comforting drink while I prepare myself for the day, sitting here in the still quiet of the house with the gas fireplace warming me and blankets and pillows ruffled about the sofa haphhazardly from the night before, being inspired by blogs I'm reading in my google reader, thanking the Lord for another day of beautiful life!  Please share with me what you delight in today.

Violas in French Newsprint

Tuesday, April 6, 2010

It's been the usual rainy and gray weather here in Seattle today and I'm wishing for warm sunshine, ice tea and spring flowers on the patio.  I saw these potted violas wrapped up in french newsprint on frolic yesterday and thought about having a spring tea with friends.  Wouldn't these make beautiful gifts to give as well as pretty table centerpieces?

Postgarden

Monday, April 5, 2010

I'm always looking for pretty and unique postcards to send since I belong to the The Benovolent Postcard Society, and recently came across these lovely postcards on wanderlust that turn into mini gardens.

I think these are a little like the chia pet but a lot more prettier.  Unfortunately for me they are only sold in the European Union right now, but for those of you who reside there here's a little hint if you get my name for next months postcard.

What's in the bag for this weekend...

Dust off your old tennis rackets and make something useful out of them.  Take the tennis racket to a glass shop and have the mirror custom cut to fit the racket, then use liquid nails to adhere the mirror to the racket.
