Taking Time Out For Prayer

Monday, January 18, 2010

My heart feels saddened for others this week.  I am having a hard time getting passed it and I need to take time out to pray, to get on my knees, to cry out for help, to pray for healing, provision and restoration.  In addition to the devastation in Haiti, a fellow blogger, Gina Drennon from the shop Feather Your Nest lost her husband suddenly to a heart attack.  She is in need of support and you can read her story here on Knack.  This hit close to home as a dear friend of mine lost her husband as well to a heart attack on Christmas Day, for which I will be attending the memorial service this Saturday.  In addition to this, I had a little scare Saturday morning when my son called to tell me that he had hurt himself badly snowboarding when he slipped on some ice and ended up wrapping his body around a tree.  Thankfully he was wearing his helmet.  He hurt his leg, but after resting it all day yesterday and today, he is going to be fine.  Just a lot of saddness hitting my heart these days, and some things I need to be thankful for too, so forgive me if I take a little blogging break.

What better reason could there be to take a break from blogging, than to spen time in prayer. I may follow suit tomorrow and do the same. I think lately too many other things are cramming up my days and I am not spending enough time with the one I love the most. Thanks for sharing, sweet friend!! xoxo

I agree with the love nest, sometimes I get a bit convicted that I spend more time blogging and less time in the word. All of us believers need to keep reminding each other of this, talking to God is far more important than anything I need to blog about. Thanks for being bold Melissa, and for being an encouragement. xo

Hoping you find some peace and clarity, Melissa. It's a lot to deal with at one time, my heart goes out to the blogger who just lost her husband.
Prayer is powerful!

My heart definitely shrink up with all the happenings around. I can only pray and hope for Gina and the many others who have lost their lives or are fighting for their life.

Have a good break Melissa.

Hi Melissa,
I am sorry to hear of your sadness. It is terrible to hear about your friends' losses. It must be so terrible to lose someone so young and so unexpectedly. My father had heart disease and suffered for ten years, having had 4 strokes and a heart attack before passing on to heaven. He was almost 88, and yet it is still so difficult. So I can't imagine what it must feel like to be in your friends shoes. I will be saying prayers for them as well as their families.
I understand how you feel when you hear that your child got hurt. There is nothing worse than worrying about their safety everytime they walk out the door. I am glad he was wearing a helmet and that he is alright.
It is sad to have to meet you under such sad circumstances. I hope to see you again sometime soon!
